About the owner...
My name is Roy Blankenship I have been guiding over 26 years. I grew up in southern West Virginia.  As a kid, I spent my summers fishing and camping on the New River.  In 1997, I became a white water rafting guide on the New.  In 1999, I started guiding fishing trips with Twin Rivers.  Later in 2007, I partnered up with Last Chance Outfitters.  I truly enjoy guiding and putting people on fish.  That is why in 2009, I decided to start Son Dad's New River Outfitters. I teach school as a living, I guide because I love it. Therefore, I have the luxury of not having to put you on the water if conditions are not favorable for fishing.
About Us...
About our Guides...

First off, our GUIDES DO NOT FISH with you.  We are professional fishing guides and have fished the New River since we were kids.  Most of us have been guiding for 10-30 years. Our guides are in tune with the New River. If we are not working a trip we are on the river fishing.  We are out there all the time we know where the fish are and what they are feeding on. We have been blessed to catch monster bass and have those magic feeding days when they eat everything you throw.  At Son Dad's, we will not fish on your time.  Our goal is to see you have that fishing trip of a lifetime.

Why are we one of the best outfitters to fish with on the New River?
Our goal is clear. We hope to hear you say one of four things when you step off the raft at the end of a trip:
1.  "That was the most fish I ever caught."
2.  "That was the biggest fish I ever caught."
3.  "I learned something today."
4.  And our favorite is,"That was one of the best times I've had!"
On a real good days we hear all four!
We Practice Catch, Photograph and Release.
Our Rafts...

Our rafts were designed and built specifically for fishing. We use 16 foot rafts.  Our fishing frames offer comfort for two fisherman and a guide with plenty of room for your gear.
Where we fish...

We are located 5 minutes form Beckley, WV.  Most of our trips are on the 12 mile catch and release section from Sandstone to McCreery Boat Launch.  If high or muddy water is a problem sometimes we will move a trip to the Greenbrier River or another section of the New River.
